Tantra massage: 4 persistent myths that are not true

Tantra massage 4 myths debunked

"Are you open today?" – "Are there any ladies available?"

Every now and then I get calls with these kinds of questions. They come from men who find my number somewhere and haven't even opened the website, let alone read it. They're looking for an hour of massage with a happy ending as quickly as possible. I'm using these examples to illustrate the prejudices and culture that authentic tantra massage has to contend with…

And honestly? I kind of get it. There are so many stories going around about tantra massage… Some are true, many aren't.
And that's why I want to debunk some persistent myths about tantra massage today.

No guru stories. No mystical stuff. Just… honest.

For those who don't know me yet: I'm Christophe. I've been working as a tantra massage therapist for women since 2018.
And I do it in a way that's very conscious… but also very natural.

🔶 Myth 1: Tantra massage is simply a sexual service

As I mentioned in the introduction, in our Western world, men often seek sexual services under the banner of tantra.
And I understand why they, or people in general, think that. Tantra and sexuality are often mentioned in the same breath.

But the form of tantra I'm talking about and that I practice isn't about sex.

It's about connection. With yourself. With your body. With your feelings.

Yes, it can feel intimate. Yes, the body—and the yoni too—can be fully present.
But the goal isn't an orgasm. Which doesn't mean it can't happen. There's also a difference between implosive and explosive orgasms. You can read more about this on the Types of orgasms page.

The goal of a tantra massage is presence. Sinking into your body. Feeling what's alive. And approaching that with gentleness. That's something very different from a sexual service. Simply: you and your body. And what wants to be felt within it.

🔶 Myth 2: Tantra massage is only for the vaguely ethereal

It's often thought that tantra is only for people who meditate all day, burn incense, and sit in the lotus position. No, that's definitely not the case! You don't have to believe in anything.
Tantra massage is for everyone. Truly. Whether you're a busy mom, a career woman with a full schedule, or simply curious... it could be something for you.

Since 2018, I've seen women from all backgrounds in my practice. From twenty-somethings to sixties, from down-to-earth to spiritual. Tantra massage helps you relax, connect with yourself, and let your energy flow. It's not vague, it's actually incredibly practical. You can simply be human. With your doubts, your emotions, your desires.

My approach is very grounded. I work with breathing. With touch. With slowing down. Everything is designed to help you relax. No incense or mantras needed if that's not your thing. It's all about what you need.

🔶 Myth 3: Tantra massage is unsafe or uncomfortable

Some people think tantra massage is unsafe, or that you feel extremely uncomfortable. I understand that, because you're letting someone get close, both literally and figuratively. But a good tantra therapist always ensures a safe, professional environment.

A very interesting topic here is whether or not you, as a tantra massage therapist, are naked. Some schools train therapists this way, with the principle of equality between giver and receiver as the main starting point. For the sake of clarity, I am and remain clothed during a session, and I have very strong opinions on this. You can read more about this in the blog article Is the tantra massage therapist (also) naked?.

In my practice, trust is paramount. Everything is done in consultation, and there is no room for overstepping boundaries. I create a place for you, as a woman, where you feel heard and respected. We discuss what you want and where your boundaries lie beforehand. It's your session, your pace.

And you know what? Many women find it incredibly liberating to experience their bodies in a safe space without judgment. It's not a matter of "exposing yourself and seeing what happens." No, it's a process of trust and self-development. I always say that tantra massage should be seen as a PATH, not some quick-fix solution. I've already seen some wonderful developments in this way with regular clients. Why?

  1. They can increasingly trust more easily from a sense of safety, which makes them more relaxed from the start and allows them to delve deeper into themselves.
  2. Their bodies become more and more open and sensitive to energy.
  3. It becomes increasingly easier to get out of their heads and connect with their bodies, which reinforces points 1 and 2.

🔶 Myth 4: Tantra massage is only for couples or partners

Many people think tantra massage is something you only do with your partner. As if it's only for couples who want to revitalize their relationship. Nope, that's absolutely not true! Tantra massage is actually incredibly powerful for women who want to work on themselves. Whether you're single, in a relationship, or somewhere in between, it's all about you.

In my practice, I help women connect with their own bodies and energy. It's the ultimate moment of me-time, time completely for yourself, to relax, release blockages, and boost your self-confidence. No partner needed, just your own curiosity. So let go of that myth and discover what tantra can do for you!

Conclusion

There you go, the 4 biggest myths about tantra massage have been debunked. It's NOT just sexual, NOT just for the faint of heart, IT IS safe and respectful with a good therapist, and perfect for both singles and couples! I hope you now have a better understanding of what tantra massage really is and how it can help you relax, accept yourself, and feel your energy.
